Lightwork Basketball was born out of a deep desire to empower young girls through the game of basketball while nurturing their growth as leaders on and off the court. Founded in the heart of the Lower East Side, our mission is to create a safe, inspiring, and high-energy environment where girls can develop their skills, build confidence, and learn the values of teamwork, discipline, and self-respect. What started as a small community effort has grown into a movement—combining hoops, heart, and hope. At Lightwork, we believe the lessons learned in the gym translate into life, and every drill, every pass, and every shot is a step toward greatness.
What's Our Impact
Lightwork Basketball has reached dozens of girls across the Lower East Side, helping them grow in confidence, discipline, and teamwork. Our Mission
Our mission is to elevate faith and character in the girls we coach, using basketball as a vehicle to inspire growth, resilience, and leadership. We believe that when young women are rooted in purpose and guided by positive role models, they can overcome any challenge on or off the court. Through intentional mentorship, spiritual development, and skill-based training, we aim to build not just better athletes — but future leaders, trailblazers, and change-makers.

When I first introduced my daughters to the game of basketball, I simply wanted to share something that meant the world to me—something that had shaped my own life in powerful ways. I never imagined that those early moments on the court would turn into something so much bigger. What started as a way to connect with my girls quickly grew into a calling to teach, mentor, and uplift many other young girls alongside them. Lightwork was born from that love—a love for the game, for family, and for seeing the next generation rise with confidence, character, and community.
